Public Transportation to The Soccer Center

The Chittenden County Transportation Authority (CCTA) offers frequent bus service from Burlington to The Soccer Center at the Champlain Valley Exposition.

Bus routes and schedules are available at CCTA’s web site, www.cctaride.org.  Bus schedules also are displayed for pick-up at numerous businesses around Chittenden County.  Bus passes and ten-ride cards are available from CCTA, otherwise exact change is required.  Bus fare is $.60 for riders up to age 17, and $1.25 for riders 18 and over.

Here are some sample routes and schedules for soccer players:

FROM DOWNTOWN BURLINGTON: To ride to The Soccer Center on weekday afternoons and evenings, take the “Essex Junction” bus from the Cherry Street Station at the corner of Cherry Street and at Church Street.  The bus leaves the Cherry Street Station every half hour (on the quarter hour) from 5:45 AM until 6:15 PM and then once an hour until 9:20 PM.  The ride from Cherry Street to The Soccer Center takes 25 minutes.   Riders will need to push the bell strip to request a stop at The Soccer Center.  Check the bus schedule for weekend options or schedules to return by bus to the Cherry Street Station after soccer (bus returns every half hour until 7:00 PM and then once an hour until 10:00 PM).

FROM SOUTH BURLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL:  Take the “UMall/Airport” bus from the bus shelter outside school on Dorset Street to the Cherry Street Station.  The bus runs by SBHS every half hour on school days, at about the quarter hour, from about 6:45 AM to about 6:50 PM, then once an hour until 10:00 PM.   Once at the Cherry Street Station, board the "Essex Junction" bus (see above).  For example, after school, board the “UMall/Airport” bus at SBHS at about 3:45 and arrive at the Cherry Street Station at 4:10, then transfer to the 4:15 “Essex Junction” bus and arrive at the soccer center at 4:40.  Do an hour of reading on the bus, to get a start on your homework!

FROM SHELBURNE/CHARLOTTE:  Board the “Shelburne Road” bus at the Shelburne Museum or anywhere along Shelburne Road north of the Shelburne Museum.  The “Shelburne Road” bus departs the Shelburne Museum at 2:55 PM, 3:39 PM and then every half hour thereafter until 5:41 PM.  The ride to the Cherry Street Station takes 30 minutes.  Once at the Cherry Street Station, board the "Essex Junction" bus (see above).  For example, board the bus at Shelburne Museum at 3:39 and arrive at Cherry Street at 4:15, just in time to board the 4:15 “Essex Junction” bus and arrive at the soccer center at 4:40.  Tell the Shelburne Road driver that you are transferring to the Essex Junction bus and they will hold the bus for you at Cherry Street.  Do an hour of reading on the bus, to get a start on your homework!

FROM WILLISTON AND CHAMPLAIN VALLEY UNION HIGH SCHOOL:  Ride your bike or carpool to Tafts Corners and board the “Williston” bus to the AMTRAK Station in Essex Junction.   The “Williston” bus leaves Tafts Corners every 30 minutes to an hour (check schedule for specific times) from 2:50 PM to 7:18 PM.  At the AMTRAK Station, board the “Essex Junction” bus to The Soccer Center.  For example, board the bus at Taft Corners at 3:50 and arrive at AMTRAK at 4:02.  Grab a snack and a sports drink at the convenience store next door.  Board the “Essex Junction” bus at the AMTRAK Station at 4:30 and arrive at the soccer center at 4:35.  Do a half hour of reading on the bus and while you wait, to get a start on your homework!

FROM OTHER LOCATIONS: Most CCTA buses go to the Cherry Street Station, which is a transfer center where riders can board the “Essex Junction” bus to The Soccer Center.  Check the bus schedule for routes to the Cherry Street Station from your home or school.  You can get a ride to the bus line, or walk or ride your bike to the bus.  Riders can load their bike on the bus bike rack and take it along.
