Spring Training Camp

Spring is officially here so it’s not too early to think about April vacation.  Plan now to send your child to Far Post’s Spring Training Camp.  “The School Break Camps are a blast,” says Education Program Director Ben Hardy.  “The kids love the soccer obstacle course, because they get to beat their time from the previous day.  There’s plenty of Futsal played, too – they can’t get enough Futsal.  It’s a great way for the kids to spend their vacation mornings.”

The Spring Training Camp meets from 9:00 a.m. to noon, April 18-22 at the Sports and Fitness Edge of Williston.  Cost is $135 per player and both boys and girls are welcome.  The program emphasizes development of sound soccer fundamentals through player instruction and evaluation.  Each day’s activities include “skill of the day” practice, fun and related games and match time.  To register please contact Ben Hardy at ben@farpostsoccerclub.com or call 863-8161.

Get “Plugged In” to the Voltage!

A quick link right from the Far Post website now zaps you right to the Vermont Voltage site so you can stay online with Voltage activities throughout the upcoming season.  New this season, are the Lady Voltage!  The women will play in the Northern Division of the W-League and games will be played in Burlington and St. Albans . The W-League is similar to the men's Premier Development League, with college players being allowed to train and play with professional players who help develop each player to their maximum potential.

Of course, the highlight of the Voltage season, will be “Far Post Night!"  Mark your calendars and save the date ~ Wednesday, July 20, 7:30 p.m. at Collins-Perley.  You won’t want to miss this super-charged event when the Voltage play the VASL All-Stars.  Be watching for more details on this special event, ticket discounts, etc.

The Vermont Voltage play in the Premier Development League (PDL) of the United Soccer Leagues. The USL is a nationwide soccer organization containing over 100 men's, women's and youth teams split into five leagues. The PDL is considered by the United States Soccer Federation as a fourth division, below Major League Soccer, the A-League, and the D3 Pro League. The PDL allows high school and college players to compete in a "pro"-like environment without losing their college eligibility.

What’s VASL?

The previous article referenced the VASL All-stars' match with the Voltage on July 20, 2005.  “The Vermont Amateur Soccer League (VASL) was established in 2001 to provide amateurs with an opportunity to participate in USASA-sanctioned, organized competition. The League was structured to promote soccer excellence and foster a link between youth and amateur soccer in the State.”  Several Far Post coaches and trainers have played on VASL teams over the years.  This year we are pleased to announce that Far Post will field a team for the Men’s and Women’s divisions.  We’ll keep you ‘posted’ on the development of our new teams as well as the teams on which you’ll find your favorite Far Post Coach!  In the meantime, visit the VASL website ~ http://www.vermontamateursoccer.com/about.html ~ for further information, now just a quick link from the Far Post website for your recurring visits!
