Far Post Player Selected for National Pool

U14 player, Teddy Vallee has been selected to the ODP’s National Pool of players for his age group, the highest level of play for youth soccer. ODP, the Olympic Development Program, is a national identification and developmental program for high level soccer players. The program identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their state, region and the United States in soccer competition. Players are selected on the basis of open tryouts as well as being recruited by ODP staff coaches.

Teddy participated in Vermont ’s ODP team last summer where he was one of 53 players selected to participate in the regional camp. Vermont is in Region I which includes players from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.  From the regional camp, Teddy was selected for the national pool where he is one of 30 players in his age group attending a week long national training camp.  If called up to play on the national team, Teddy will have the opportunity to compete in international matches!  Congratulations, Teddy, from your Far Post family!

Travel Teams Begin Summer Season

Most Far Post teams began their summer match play last weekend, April 30-May 1.  With many of our families having multiple children in the club and some teams playing in more than one league, it was surely a hectic weekend in the car from one soccer pitch to the other!  Overall, our teams faired well on their first weekend of outside play.  We have created a new web scoreboard to track results of our teams.  Visit http://www.farpostsoccerclub.com/travel%20teams/fpsc_scoreboard.htm to check it out!  We’ll continue to post results as they are reported in!

Jamborees, VSL, NEPYSL – a lot to keep track of!  Far Post teams participate in a variety of match play to enhance their soccer experience and utilize the skills acquired and practiced during winter training.

  • Our U10’s participate in Jamboree events, experiencing friendly match play with teams from around the state.  The games are 25-minutes long on youth-sized fields, using youth-sized goals and teams of 7v7.

  • The U11 through U18 teams participate in the Vermont Soccer League (VSL, formerly known as the Green Mountain Soccer League) which includes teams from around the state and also from the Plattsburg area.

  • In addition to the VSL, our U14, U15, U16 boys and girls and the U18 boys are playing in the New England Premier Youth Soccer League (NEPYSL) which provides opportunity for matches with competitive teams from our New England neighbors.

With the many matches scheduled for the month of May, our teams should be well-prepared for their first tournament outings the end of this month.  Be sure to visit the web calendar for the daily schedule of training, matches and educational programs!  Keep this link in your ‘favorites:’  http://www.farpostsoccerclub.com/calendar/Calendar.htm
