Kohl’s Cup…A Day of Fun for U10’s

On Saturday, June 11, the Far Post U10 Boys and Girls participated in the Vermont Kohl's America Cup, known previously as the Tide Cup.  The Kohl’s Cup is a 7 v 7 non-results oriented soccer festival for U10 boys and girls teams, and includes a U8 division.  The event is designed to highlight teams of all levels and promote fair play.  Teams are guaranteed four twenty-five minute matches ~ U10 teams can choose between two divisions with division one being the stronger and consisting mostly of 10 year olds.

Adding to the weekend’s excitement, organizers allowed players to run through the sprinklers and handed out souvenirs including stickers, patches, bracelets, and certificates.  “The Kohl’s Cup was an exciting day for Vermont Soccer,” said Meg Munson, Executive Director of Vermont Soccer Association.  “Kohl’s is a great partner of US Youth Soccer and we are excited about the enhancements to the American Cup.”

Bo Finnegan coached the U10 Boys and Todd Kingsbury coached the U10 Girls, accompanied by his ‘assistant coach’ Ivan Llona. (see photo right).

Kohl’s American Cup is the largest recreational youth soccer organization in the United States that boasts more than 65,000 participants and more than 100,000 attendees annually since its inception in 2000.  Vermont was one of fifty-five state organizations to provide youth soccer players with the opportunity to experience a consistent and high-quality statewide tournament in a fun, festival-like atmosphere.
