Tryout Administrative Procedures Streamlined

Returning families to this year’s tryouts will notice a welcomed change in the tryout registration process:  less paperwork to complete!  In an effort to streamline internal operations and to simplify things at tryouts, returning players’ registration forms will be pre-filled with data from the prior year.  Parents will still need to accompany their athlete son or daughter to the first week of tryouts at a minimum, to review the data, make any necessary changes and give their permission for their child to participate in Far Post Travel Team Tryouts.

One very important note is that all families will receive their notification of tryout results by e-mail UNLESS specifically noted on the tryout registration form.  Families will be asked to respond by utilizing a new online system linked to Far Post’s website.  A new Parent-Player manual will require the review of families of accepted players and families are asked to consider using Far Post’s secure, internet-based payment method with PayPal to make their travel team payments.

“Far Post has spent the summer tightening things up as a means to maximize staff time, streamline administrative tasks and prepare for future growth,” says Executive Director Todd Kingsbury.  “These new procedures, as well as our new eRegister process, bring our organization into modern times and provide families with a more efficient way to register their children for our programs.”

Now you can register for Far Post programs in three easy steps!  In an effort to streamline our registration process, Far Post is proud to present a new online registration and payment system.

Why should you use eRegister? Because it:

  1. expedites your program registration
  2. saves paper (the environment is very important to us!)
  3. minimizes administrative handling, thus keeping costs down!

For which programs can you register online? All Far Post programs:

  1. Travel Teams (upon receipt of player acceptance letter, to be sent within two weeks after last tryout weekend)
  2. Futsal Leagues
  3. Educational Programs

What are the three steps in the new registration process?

  1. Determine the program for which you are registering (or, in the case of Travel Teams, receive a roster acceptance letter).
  2. Complete the online registration form for respective program.
  3. Remit your payment online via PayPal.

How do you determine which Far Post program is right for you or your athlete son or daughter?

  1. Feel free to call the Far Post office for information at 863-8161.
  2. E-mail your questions to the Far Post office at info@farpostsoccerclub.com
  3. Explore our website ~ frequently!

Can you still do things the traditional way – on paper – if you don’t have access to a PC?   Of course, simply follow our new guidelines:

  1. Completed registration forms must be submitted for all programs so we have proper documentation and parent/guardian permission for all players to participate.  You can obtain the appropriate form(s) at the Far Post office.
  2. Credit card payments may be made in person at the Far Post office or by phone if credit card authorization form is on file.
  3. Checks must be mailed or hand delivered to the Far Post office.  A new mailbox has been installed adjacent to the Far Post office for payment drop off.  Please do not give payments to the coach during training, educational or at match events.

 Why should everyone use eRegister?

  1. It’s the quickest way to submit your registration and payment ~ very important these days as we frequently have waiting lists for many of our programs!  (Players are not considered registered until we've received a registration form and payment).
  2. It streamlines the registration process for families and Far Post staff and keeps administrative costs down!
  3. It’s environmentally and user friendly!

Most importantly, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!   Use eRegister!

Far Post Board Adopts New Club Policies

The Far Post Board of Directors recently adopted new Financial Policies for club operations.  “Far Post has seen great growth over the past few years,”  said Joe Bergeron, Board Chairman.  “The Board recognized that growth makes it increasingly important to have comprehensive policies that are clear and fair to everyone, while streamlining administration wherever possible.”

Of particular note are policies related to payments, registration deadlines, refunds and cancellations for all Far Post programs.  The policies will be incorporated into various club documents such as registration forms, a new travel team parent-player manual, and informational pieces on the website, so that all Far Post families can be aware of these new operating rules for our club.

Many families new to Far Post may not be aware of its corporate structure.  Far Post Soccer Club, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Our primary mission is to foster the love of soccer through educational programs and defined training curriculums. Contributions to Far Post are tax deductible.

Far Post is governed by a volunteer board of directors whose primary role is to:

  • make policy and set direction

  • review and approve the annual budget

  • employ an Executive Director and define his/her role

Far Post’s Board of Directors currently has six members:

  • Joe Bergeron, Chair

  • Roger Ranz, Vice Chair

  • Tim Macnee, Treasurer

Golf Tournament Planned

The families of this past season’s U13 Boys team have organized a Golf Tournament fundraiser in anticipation of the annual Spring trip to Holland by the U14 teams.  The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the West Bolton Golf Club.  Nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont, only 25 minutes from Burlington or the Stowe area, West Bolton Golf Club offers an 18 hole golf course with breathtaking views.  Come October the surrounding mountains will be ablaze in color.  The golf club has generously donated its facilities for our tournament, and we are excited to be playing there!  We hope you’ll save this date and plan to register to play!  You’ll be supporting the fundraising efforts and enjoy a great golfing day in the fall foliage of Vermont.

Tournament organizers have limited participation to 100 golfers -- so get your registration in early.  Register as a team of four, a twosome or on your own.  They’ll match up players to fill all teams.  The entry fee is $75 per player and the registration deadline is October 5, 2005.

In addition, if you have a business that might enjoy special recognition and visibility, tee sponsorships are available.  For $250 your company can take advantage of a valuable marketing opportunity and field two players!

Click here for additional information and to eRegister!

If you have any questions, please contact Karen Nevin at karen.nevin@vsc.edu or Amy deGroot at degroot@together.net.  We look forward to seeing you at the West Bolton Golf Club on October 8th!

Sincere thanks to West Bolton Golf Course for hosting this tournament!
