Pre-Season Camp a Hit!

Fifty-Two campers participated in the Far Post Pre-Season Camp last week, bringing Far Post’s 2004-2005 season to an official close (click link for more photos!). "The camp has grown in popularity since its inception a couple of years ago. The camp not only prepares players for their respective high school pre-season sessions, but is loads of fun,” said Education Director Ben Hardy.  The week-long program focused on fitness, technique and player confidence as these are key elements that influence a player’s performance in pre-season and the following regular season!

Best wishes to all the Pre-Season Campers in their respective high school seasons!

Tryouts in Full Swing

As our 2005 season ends, the new season immediately begins!  The first round of tryouts were held Sunday, August 14 for boys and girls U15 and older.  Players that missed last weekend should plan to attend this Sunday.  If you have further conflicts, please contact Todd Kingsbury at todd@farpostsoccerclub.com or 863-8161.

Many players, particularly the older athletes were unaccompanied by a parent.  Our preference is that parents stop in during tryout registration and sign the registration form to indicate permission for their son or daughter to participate.  Of special importance this year, is a change in our tryout notification process.  We want to be sure that all parents and players are aware of our plans to send results electronically to the e-mail addresses we have on file.  The acceptance process will be handled electronically as well.  Families that prefer to be notified by U. S. Mail should let us know at tryouts on Sunday so a notation can be made on the player tryout registration form.  Any e-mail updates, changes of address or other contact data should be provided to us this weekend as well.

A brief handout, “Tryouts Update ~ 2005-2006,” was distributed at tryouts.  It outlined the new tryout notification process as well as Far Post’s new online registration system (eRegister), updated financial policies and Futsal league dates for the upcoming season.  The handouts will be available this weekend or you may download it.

The last item of note to parents is the commitment required of a Far Post travel team player.  Returning families realize not only the monetary commitment, but the investment of time and travel.  Refer to our travel team home page for complete details on our travel team program including the schedule for a typical season.

Tryout dates for the younger players (U10 through U14) are September 10/11 and 17/18.  Feel free to forward tryout information to any interested families you may know.
