U14 Boys Play Well in Bethesda
The Far
Post Soccer Club U14 Boys traveled to Bethesda, Maryland this past week to
participate in one of the most competitive and prestigious tournaments in the
country. The
Bethesda Soccer Club
is considered one of the top clubs in the United States and hosts annually one
of the premier soccer tournaments that brings in the best competition on the
east coast.
The Far Post
U14 Boys were the only team at this tournament from Vermont, and the team
represented the state proudly. The team ended the tournament 2-1 and narrowly
missed making the semi-finals. Far Post's two wins came against two top teams
from eastern Pennsylvania. They beat West Chester Soccer Club 2-1 and Lehigh
Valley Soccer Club 3-0. The lone loss came against the host club Bethesda, which
lost in the finals.
Coach
Kingsbury commented, "All of the teams that we played this weekend are at the
end of their season, while this was, for the most part, our first weekend
together. It is great to see our boys play such skillful soccer against some of
the best teams on the east coast."

Dylan Hadden, of the U13 Boys First Team, has been selected to
participate in a U. S. Olympic luge development team screening camp at
Muskegon, Michigan in January. Dylan participated in the first selection
session where 20 local teens showed up and took turns careening down a hill on
a street luge sled ~ that is a toboggan with 8 to 10 skateboard wheels on each
side! Each run was timed and each athlete had to complete a strength and
agility test circuit. Dylan was one of 75 teens selected from about 600
nationwide, attending the second tryout at Lake Placid this past summer. In
November, Dylan received his invitation to the next selection camp at the end
of January. One additional selection camp will follow the January event
before Dylan and his family will find out if he’s been chosen to be part of
the junior Olympic development squad. If making the final round, he will
train three times a week in Lake Placid and travel overseas to compete.
Good luck, Dylan! |
