Did you know that Far Post was a ‘featured club’ on the Needham website?  Take a look.  Although this article ran a year ago for the 2005 event, we were proud to be a featured club once again!  If you wish to view more details results of the games at Needham, click here

The U16 Girls brought home the championship trophy for their division in the Dartmouth Cup, played in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Congratulations to all Far Post teams for a great weekend of soccer, and thanks to all parents for your support!

Next up for Travel Teams:  The Nordic Cup!

For the first time in club history, all 23 Far Post teams will participate in the local Nordic Cup Soccer Tournament, to be held June 17-18.  The tournament will be based at the Tree Farm facility in Essex Junction, with games also played at St. Michael’s College, University of Vermont, Dorset Park and Williston Central School.  Click here to see tournament details.

As is the case for any tournament, parking is frequently a challenge.  The Tree Farm in particular, has limited parking in proportion to the number of fields in use for the tournament.  Families are advised to carpool as much as possible, review the procedures below and give yourself ample time to find parking.  In general, families attending games at the Tree Farm must park at the Champlain Valley Exposition, accessed through Gate E and take the bus to the Tree Farm.  The tournament website includes site maps to which you can refer when reading the notes below.

Parking Procedures for Games at the Tree Farm (Click here to view field layout)

  •  Each visiting team will receive three parking passes for the main parking lot at The Tree Farm Site.  This is Lot A.  Reserved for visiting teams and handicap only.  If you do not have a pass you can not park in Lot A.  Parking is free.  Passes will be distributed at registration.  Car pooling is strongly recommended.

  •  There is unlimited parking and bus service on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7:30 AM between the Champlain Valley Exposition, accessible through Gate E which is off VT Route 2A, and the Tree Farm.   It is a short, 5 minute bus ride to the Tree Farm.

  •  There is a drop-off area at the Tree Farm traffic circle (immediately before Lot A); however, again, car pooling is encouraged to limit congestion.

  •  Lot B, the small grass lot before the Traffic Circle is reserved for trainer, EMTs and referees with passes.  Please do not park here or you will be towed.

  •  Lots C and D, which are farthest from the Tree Farm fields are reserved for Nordic families with parking permits.  Again, do not park here or you will be towed.

  •  Cars parking along the side of the road will be ticketed and towed.

Parking at all other Tournament Sites

Parking at Williston Central School, St. Michael’s College and Dorset Park while limited, present no significant problems.  However, please car pool if possible and leave plenty of time to arrive safely.
