Seeking Used
Soccer Cleats ~ Quick Response Needed!
Do
you have any used soccer cleats that you might like to donate to a worthwhile
cause? Can you get them to the Far Post office by Friday, June 30 at 3 p.m.?
If so, your assistance and donation is greatly appreciated.

Twelve
students from Bentley College are going to rural Ghana this summer to
work with AIDS orphans. One of their projects will be to set up a
soccer league and to run a soccer clinic. The students' goal is to
give AIDS orphans a safe place to go during the day. Health care and
job training opportunities will be available as well, but soccer is what
will attract them to the program! Soccer is a very big sport in Ghana
and is often played barefoot on dirt fields (see photo). Getting the
pre-teens and teens involved early is especially important--to keep them
from heading for Accra where they will lead a life as street children.
The
groups would like to take USED soccer shoes of all sizes--up to
50 pair for boys and girls aged 5-18. It's important that the shoes be
used, because they do not want to differentiate between those who
get new and those who get used! |
If
you can help, contact
paulette@farpostsoccerclub.com to arrange a drop off
of your used cleats at the Far Post office before THIS FRIDAY, JUNE 30 AT 3 p.m.
Club parent, Tyler Wood
(U13 Boys Development), will collect the donations late Friday afternoon and
bring them to his contact at Bentley College. Thanks for any donations you can
provide.
