Welcome!

As we finalize the rosters for the upcoming season, we’d like to take this opportunity to welcome the many new players and families who have joined Far Post this year… and welcome back to returning players and families.  Best wishes to all for a great season!

Stay in the loop!

The new season and the move have brought changes in our contact information so here’s an overview of “who to call” and how to get information at Far Post!

First, our website is maintained regularly.  If something is not posted on the website, it generally means that we do not have the confirmed information available.  The quickest way to know what’s happening is to monitor the website on a regular basis.  The club website is www.farpostsoccerclub.com.  All indoor league information (Futsal and 7v7) is now on The Soccer Center’s new website:  www.thesoccercenter.org.

ePost is our electronic newsletter.  All travel team players and families are automatically on the email distribution list for ePost if email addresses have been provided to us.  Feel free to add as many email addresses as you’d like (work, home, etc.) and notify us when you have changes.  ePost highlights important announcements, events, schedules, etc. and is generally sent out bi-weekly.  It’s posted right on the website so if you have difficulty opening the links from the email message, go to the website and click on “News” to view current or past issues.  Stay on top of the latest details by reading ePost regularly.

For specific team events, schedules, meetings, etc. contact your team manager.  We are in the process of filling the manager positions for each team.  The team manager is the primary communicator between the club office and the team.  You’ll be hearing  from them very soon.  If you are interested in volunteering to assist as a manager or co-manager, please reply to admin@farpostsoccerclub.com.

For coaching-related issues specific to your son/daughter, speak directly with your coach first, and, at a time that’s appropriate and convenient.  (See the Parent-Player manual for details on this topic).

The Far Post office is now located on the 2nd floor of ‘The Soccer Center’ (the Robert E. Miller Expo Centre building at the Champlain Valley Exposition, 105 Pearl Street, Essex Junction.)  Our office phone number is 872-8860.

Important Update for ALL Travel Team Players

Have you completed the acceptance process?

Just a reminder that the response deadline for players who’ve receive acceptance notifications for the upcoming season has passed.  We are in the process of preparing the paperwork for next week’s sessions and want to be certain that we’ve included all rostered players.  If you haven't done both of the following, please do so right away to accept your rostered position:

  • Acceptance of the Parent-Player Manual

  • Team fee deposit

If you have any questions regarding the process or payment, please contact Paulette Bergeron, Business Manager, paulette@farpostsoccerclub.com or 872-8860, ext. 200.

Paperwork Sessions

We have scheduled four Paperwork Sessions for families to handle paperwork needed for the upcoming season.  It is very important that at least one parent and the player attend one of these sessions, any time during the hours indicated below.  Please review the paperwork requirements list so you’ll be sure to bring the proper documents with you.  The paperwork sessions will be held in our new facility ~ in the main conference room on the second floor across from our office.  Click here for directions!

  • Monday, October 9 ~ 5-8 p.m.

  • Tuesday, October 10 ~ 5-8 p.m.

  • Friday, October 13 ~ 5-8 p.m.

  • Saturday, October 14 ~ 10 a.m. until noon

Paperwork Requirements

  • Birth Certificates:  Only NEW players need to bring a copy with them; we have last year’s players’ on file.

  • Photos:  All players should accompany their parents so they can have a digital picture taken for their player passes.  If the players are unable to attend, parents should bring a 1 x 1 inch photo with them or email a digital photo to admin@farpostsoccerclub.comNEW this year, are player passes for Futsal as well as the outdoor season ~ it's very important that we take care of photos at the paperwork sessions next week.

  • Medical forms:  All players must have signed medical forms on file to cover indoor, outdoor training, league and tournament play.  The forms will be pre-filled with family contact data in our records but you’ll need your medical insurance information with you to complete the form.

  • Futsal and Indoor League Play at The Soccer Center Futsal is the indoor game of choice for Far Post travel team players.  Team managers will coordinate Futsal activities for each team.  All players participating in The Soccer Center indoor leagues must be registered with the state association.  The Indoor League waivers will be available at the paperwork sessions for this purpose.  There is a one-time fee of $4 for the player registration which covers both Futsal and 7v7 leagues in The Soccer Center.  For details on the Futsal schedules, visit www.thesoccercenter.org.

  • Uniforms:  we are fortunate enough to continue with the same uniform as the past three years.  Plan ahead ~ next year we’ll have a new design and all player will need new uniforms.

    For this year:

    • Returning players only need to order if their uniform items are worn or do not fit.

    • New players must order the entire kit.  The estimated kit cost is $110 ~ U11-U18 teams and includes:  orange training t-shirt, orange game jersey, navy game jersey, 1 pair navy game shorts, 1 pair orange socks, 1 pair navy socks.

    • U11 players who played on the U10 team last year, need to order only the navy game jersey (with the same number as their last year orange jersey) assuming all other uniform pieces fit.

    • U10 age players receive one uniform kit as part of the team fee.  Extra uniform pieces may be ordered at the group prices.  The U10 kit includes:  orange training t-shirt, orange game jersey, navy-numbered t-shirt (to be used as an alternate game jersey if needed), 1 pair navy game shorts, 1 pair orange socks, 1 pair navy socks.

Samples will be available for players to try on.

  • Spirit Gear:  we’ll once again offer a variety of items containing the Far Post logo with samples available to try on.

*** NOTE:  It’s very important to note that registration session prices for uniforms and spirit gear are a one time offering.  Late orders will be subject to higher pricing due to lower order quantities and any applicable rush fees.

If you can’t attend a paperwork session, please notify us at admin@farpostsoccerclub.com so alternate arrangements can be made to take care of these important tasks.

Indoor Training Schedule

We are in the process of finalizing the winter indoor training schedule.  It will be posted to the website very shortly.

 Used Uniforms to Share?

Thanks to Betty Gill, former Far Post parent, for a recent donation of gently worn Far Post uniform items.  We’ll see to it that these are matched up with a player who needs a uniform.  If you have uniform items in good condition that you’d like to part with or lend to a player for this year, please let us know.  We do not have much room for storage, but we’ll keep a listing of the items, sizes, and numbers and match them with a player in need.

The Logan family has a pair of Adidas Predator Pulse cleats for sale; US Size 8; never been worn (tags still on), original cost ~ $190; willing to negotiate.  If interested, please contact Allison, 985-0173.

We look forward to seeing all of you next week!

School of Excellence I: Shooting and Finishing

Soccer is a game where goals are of paramount importance.  Games are won by goals being scored.  In School of Excellence I (SOE I), players will enjoy sessions that have training drills to develop shooting and finishing skills.  Players will first learn the fundamentals of basic shooting to build a foundation for more advanced techniques of shooting from distance, turning to shoot, quick feet and finishing, first time shots and crossing and finishing.

We are now accepting registrations for SOE I!  The sessions will begin on Thursday, November 9 and will be held at The Soccer Center
