Send us your
feedback!
Far
Post very much seeks input from players and family members on
how their experience was this past season. All club families
should have received an emailed request to complete a Travel Team and Coach
Evaluation Questionnaire. These questions are
specifically about the
outdoor
experience. If you have not already done so, please take a few moments to provide us with
your valued input as we plan for the 2007-2008 season. We have several
response options for your convenience:

It’s recommended that players attend both sessions if possible to maximize
their tryout experience.

Facilities Fit Up Campaign Update |
In
mid-May, Far Post's Fundraising Committee, under the leadership of Board
Treasurer Tim Macnee, announced the establishment of the Facilities Fit Up
Campaign
to help reduce the
financial obligation incurred by Far Post to acquire the turf, nets and
other equipment necessary to fit up our new home at The Soccer Center in
Essex Junction. The committee set an
an ambitious goal of raising
$15,000 this year through direct solicitation of club families and the first
annual Far Post Frenzy Golf Tournament which was held in June. The
golf tournament attracted 40 golfers, 10 sponsors and netted close to $2500.
To date, individuals and businesses have contributed an additional $3810
directly to the campaign.
A
sincere thank you to all who have contributed to the campaign thus far!
We're nearly half way to our goal!
Click here to view our new Honor Roll of Donors page.
Please

Far Posters Participate in
ODP |
The
Vermont Olympic Development Program is
part of
US Youth Soccer ODP, a national
identification and developmental program designed to identify and develop
the most talented, committed youth soccer players and give them the
opportunity to represent their state, region, and country through state,
regional, inter-regional, and international competitions.
One of the primary goals of the Vermont ODP is to give
these players the opportunity to be evaluated and chosen for participation in
the Regional ODP teams by having the players participate in the Region I
Tournament, held in June and the Region I Identification Camp (held in July).
The ODP tournament
is attended by the 13 states of Region I. It is a high profile tournament with
the level of play significantly higher than most other tournaments in the
country. The Region I tournament is attended by Regional Coaches aiming to
identify participants for ID Camp in July.
The
Identification Camp
generally lasts for 5 days and offers Vermont youth the
opportunity to play, train and be evaluated by top coaches in the US.
Vermont players are coupled
with youth from any of the 13 Region I states. The participants receive coaching sessions each day along with competitive
small sided and 11v11 matches.
At certain age levels the participants are
regrouped into pools of players from which a final regional pool is selected by
the end of camp.
At the Identification Camp,
Brittany Pfaff
participated in the select pool during the first days of
camp, a great accomplishment for a Vermont female player in her age group. Andrew Mercier,
Ethan Harlow, Robbie Cole
and
Teddy Vallee
were selected to the final boys pool and named to the roster for the Regional
Call-Back Camp which took place last week.
Congratulations to
Brittany, Andrew, Ethan, Robbie and Teddy on these outstanding soccer achievements!
Congratulations to the following Far Post
players on their participation in Vermont ODP - 2007.

The Center Circle
Feature
Spotlight ~
Coach Meghan McGrath |
Coach Meghan McGrath,
the newest member to Far Post's coaching staff,
grew up near Philadelphia.
She went to
Penn State and majored in Business Logistics.
Meghan played for the Penn
State Women's Club Soccer Team which won the Club National Championship
in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2001.
Upon graduation
from Penn State, Meghan spent a year in Maine and then a
year in Oregon before moving to Burlington. She has worked at the
Frederick Tuttle Middle School
in South Burlington for the past two years. Meghan is enrolled in the
Graduate Program at UVM
with the goal of obtaining her Masters Degree in Teaching.
Coach Meghan says
that being in Vermont has been great for getting involved with soccer
again. She plays on a women's team in the
Vermont Amateur Soccer
League (VASL) and is a regular in The Soccer Center's Womens and Coed Futsal
Indoor Soccer Leagues. She also enjoys hiking and skiing in the mountains.
Meghan joined Far
Post this past season as head coach of the U14 Girls Development Team and
Co-Coach for the U16 Girls First Team. On her first year coaching with Far Post,
Meghan says, it "has been great! Both teams I coached had
wonderful hard-working girls on them. It was fun to share something I am
passionate about, and also to get more involved in the community here."
