Tryouts will be held at Dorset Park, in South Burlington ~ on Field 3 (the field in back of Cairns Arena), click here for directions.

Players are asked to try out in their age-specific bracket.  In case you missed last week's issue of ePost, here are some additional frequently asked questions regarding tryouts!

Tryouts 2007 FAQ's

  • Where?  All tryouts will take place at Dorset Park (Field 3) in South Burlington.

  • Is there a fee?  There is no registration fee to tryout.  All are welcome!

  • When should players arrive?  Please plan to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to scheduled time for your age group to register and warm-up. Click here for detailed schedule!

  • How do we register?  A simple registration form will be available for completion at tryouts check-in.  All Far Post players from this past season will automatically be pre-registered.

  • Does a parent need to attend?  Parents of new players and returning Far Post players are requested to check in with their son or daughter on the first day and sign the registration form.

  • Do players need to attend both sessions?  It’s recommended that players attend both sessions if possible to maximize their tryout experience.

  • What should we do if a player can’t attend both sessions?  Please inform our personnel at check-in so it can be recorded on the player's registration form.  You can also send us an email at admin@farpostsoccerclub.com -- if emailing, please be sure to include your child's name and the age group for which he/she is trying out.

  • Are there any other opportunities for players to be seen if they can’t attend tryout sessions?  Yes!  Far Post is offering two August camps just before school begins:  our Pre-Season Camp for high-schoolers, and our First Touch Camp for ages 7-14.  Both camps are quite full so if interested, please email us at Wendy@farpostsoccerclub.com.

  • What should we bring?  Players should be accompanied by a parent/guardian for check in on the first session.  Players should be dressed in soccer attire, ready to play (cleats, shin-guards, etc.) and should bring their water bottles!  Also plan to bring other clothing items appropriate for the weather.

  • Can I bring a friend?  Feel free to bring someone new along to see what Far Post is all about!

  • How & when will players be notified of tryout results?  Players will be notified BY E-MAIL (unless otherwise noted on the registration form) within a week following the second tryout session.

  • What happens after players receive their notifications?  Players/families will have about 10 days to respond to Far Post indicating their acceptance.  Acceptance is an online process which includes the review of our Travel Team Parent-Player Manual, and payment of the travel team deposit (50% of the fee.)

Announcing the Kohlasch Annual Wiffle® Ball Tournament

The Colchester Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Bill Kohlasch Wiffle® Ball Tournament on Saturday, September 15 at the Bayside Park Ball Field in Colchester.  Bill was a teacher at Colchester's Malletts Bay School for 18 years and worked as the Summer Coordinator at the Colchester Parks and Recreation Department for 16 years.  He was instrumental in creating the first ever Wiffle® Ball League in the Fall of 2003.

Bill was also a 'founding father' of Far Post Soccer Club back in 1996 and collaborated in the design of the Club crest.  The Latin words signified the founders' vision for Far Post and Bill felt that it was important for all players to understand their meaning.  It's fitting, as we begin a new season, to take a few moments to reflect on our club's heritage and the inspiration and support that Bill gave to the club in its early years, along with so many other coaches, volunteers and families.  (Click here to learn more about Far Post's crest.)

Bill passed away in April of 2005 after a five year struggle with melanoma.  He left his special mark in our club, Colchester Parks and Rec and with all whom he came in contact.  The Tournament honors his memory and benefits the College Fund established for his three children.

Those who are interested may click here for the tournament brochure and related details.  Perhaps there are some Far Post wiffle® ball fans who might consider entering an 'orange' team in this 2nd year event!  It promises to be a day of great fun!
