August Camps Picture Perfect

Far Post experienced a record turn out for its August camps earlier this month!  Over 80 high schoolers attended the Pre-Season Camp and the following week's First Touch camp was attended by more than 90 players!  All attendees took full advantage of a week of soccer training to preparing themselves for their school and club tryouts.

Nearly picture perfect weather and a committed group of coaches and players made for two great weeks of soccer!  New this year, were a group of high school aged Far Post players working as Training Assistants at the First Touch Camp.   Brad Cole, Rob Cole, Angela Dunkling, Noah Johnson, Andrew Mercier and Liz Proutt joined coaches Wendy Elles, Todd Kingsbury, Eric LaDouceur, Ashley Pfaff and Tom Schaefer in preparing the 7-14 year old campers for their fall season.  The Training Assistants served as great mentors to the younger players while gaining valuable coaching experience.

We've created photo albums for both camps ~ take a look!

We wish all players good luck in their upcoming fall school seasons!  Remember, regardless of the school for whom you play, or the colors you wear in the Fall season, you're always Far Post team-mates wearing orange under your school colors!  Best wishes!

The Center Circle Feature

Spotlight ~ Coach Eric LaDouceur

Coach Eric LaDouceur, a native of Marlborough, Connecticut, has enjoyed life-long immersion in the game of soccer.  He saw his first professional game in 1988 when USA played Guatamala at New Britain, CT.  His family had season tickets for the New England Revolution for the first six years of MLS!  He attended RHAM High School and was a member of the state championship soccer team in 1993. Eric played club soccer for Manchester Football Club and as a U15, traveled with his team to Denmark.  From 1997-99, he played at Johnson State College, serving the team as a goal keeper and outside midfielder.  For the past four years, Eric has been a regular player in the Vermont Amateur Soccer League (VASL), this past season, entering his own Team "Rebellion."  He also plays in the Mens and Coed Futsal Leagues during the indoor season.

Eric came to Far Post as a coach in 2004, when he was assigned the position of Head Coach for the U15/16 Girls Development Team.  He has since held the head coaching position for one or two teams each year, serves the club as goal keeper coach and frequently serves as assistant coach for other teams.  In addition to his coaching duties, Eric is a trainer in many of Far Post's Camps and Clinics and is a senior staff member for The Soccer Center

Eric has coached for the Vermont Olympic Development Program (VT ODP) for the past four years.  He regularly "helps out" Coaches Tom Schaefer and Dave Martin with the JV and Varsity Boys soccer teams at South Burlington High School ~ "the Home of the Rebels."  He's recently coached at Edmunds and Harwood Middle Schools.

As for life outside of soccer ... Eric is the proud uncle of nieces Cayla and Breena; he's a New York Yankees fan and a Boston Celtics Fan!  He's also a Seinfeld fan and is the proud owner of Seasons 1-8!  And, when he finds a few moments of spare time, Eric enjoys his favorite game on PlayStation 2 -- FIFA '07!

Eric's outlook for 2007-08:  "I'm lucky to have my boys (the U13s) for another year and will have a great new opportunity coaching the U17-18 Girls team this coming season."
