Travel Teams:  Tryout Updates

 Attention U10 through 13 players!  The second weekend of tryout is this Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16. If you were not able to attend last weekend, here's another opportunity to tryout for the upcoming season. 

 For the detailed 2007-08 try out schedule, click here!  Tryouts will be held at Dorset Park, in South Burlington ~ on Field 3 (the field in back of Cairns Arena), click here for directions.  Players are asked to try out in their age-specific bracket.  See our August 1 issue of ePost for some frequently asked questions regarding tryouts!

 If you are an older player and missed our August tryouts, we have openings on some teams.  Contact Todd Kingsbury, Club Executive Director as soon as possible for details.

 We are in the process of finalizing our U14 through U17/18 teams.  If you received an acceptance letter and have not responded, kindly complete the acceptance process right away or notify us if you've decided not to participate this year.

 Found at Tryouts: 

  • 1 pair of glasses, brown frames

  • Women's ring, gold with large pink stone and two smaller stones

  • Green/black jacket - "Willy" embroidered on back

  • Navy windbreaker

Travel Team Paperwork Sessions

 Mark these dates on your calendar!  We've scheduled three Paperwork Sessions to complete the season's medical forms, have player photos taken for player passes and try on/order uniforms.  It's very important that all players come to one of the following sessions to take care of their administrative tasks.  Plan ahead!  Save these dates!

  • Wednesday, October 10 ~ 5 - 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 11 ~ 5 - 8 p.m.
  • Friday, October 12 ~ 4:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Plan Ahead for Futsal and Indoor Soccer!

 Game dates for Futsal and 7v7 at The Soccer Center have been posted to The Soccer Center website!  We're pleased to announce some new and exciting changes to this year's program.

  • Futsal has been expanded to three 7-week sessions (from 6 last year!)
  • 7v7 Session II has been expanded to a 6-week schedule (from 5 last year)! 
  • Adult Coed Futsal has been moved to Monday nights ~ at an earlier time slot!
  • A new 9v9 game will replace the Mens A and Womens 7v7 divisions.
  • Facility improvements:  new scoreboards have been ordered for Futsal games and the steel beams in the North Fieldhouse will be padded.

 Check out the game dates for your age bracket so you can plan on playing indoor soccer at The Soccer Center this winter.  Players on Far Post Travel Teams will be contacted by their team manager to organize indoor teams.

 Team managers can feel free to pre-register their teams with a simple email to indoor league manager Jim Goudie, jimgoudie@thesoccercenter.org!

Indoor Education Programs Dates Announced

 We are pleased to announce the dates for Far Post Soccer Club's popular Schools of Excellence (SOE).  These programs provide valuable training opportunities for players ages 8 through 14.  Each School of Excellence session will focus on a specific aspect of the game and have drills and exercises to develop that skill. 

  • SOE I:  Ball Control and Dribbling Skills begins November 8

  • SOE II: Individual Skillwork and Small-Sided Games begins January 3

  • SOE III: 1v1 Attacking Skills begins March 6

Holland Fundraising Begins!

Each year, Far Post's U14 teams travel to Holland in April for a week-long soccer experience.  This season's trip continues a tradition which has been in place since Far Post was founded in 1996.  The trip exposes players to Dutch coaches and teams and their vision of soccer as well as international play. 

 The U14 Boys team has organized their first fundraising project ~ A Soccer Quilt Raffle!  Crafted by parent Sarah Laderoute, the quilt features a variety of soccer t-shirts from area teams, clubs and tournaments ~ a great gift for any soccer enthusiast!
