Far Post Premier Team Program

Far Post Soccer Club fields competitive Travel Teams for ages U-10 through U-18, both girls and boys. Tryouts are held in the late summer and early fall of each year for all teams and no player's position is guaranteed for more than one year. The purpose of travel teams is to put our high quality training philosophy to work in competitive situations locally and throughout the northeast. Far Post prides itself on developing¯ the total player. Emphasis is placed on skillful-building, teamwork, sportsmanship, doing your best, working hard and having fun. Far Post believes that a player's and team's performance, attitude and effort are top priority.

Standards of Instruction:

  • Excellent players require excellent instruction. Our comprehensive, club-wide curriculum means all players learn more efficiently and effectively within a structured learning environment, with high quality motivation, and the correct attitude toward learning and practice. In addition to having quality coaches, Far Post Soccer Club has a training staff that works with all teams throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons to add diversity to the travel team training.

Team Commitment:

  • We train once per week during the winter starting in early November. We have a club-wide winter training attendance requirement of 75% attendance.

  • Starting in late April or early May, each team has two outdoor training sessions per week. Players should expect at least one League match each weekend and three out-of-state tournaments. All players are expected to play in all league and tournament games including State Cup matches. Our outdoor training/event player attendance policy requires at least 90% attendance. Far Post Soccer Club was founded on the premise that we work with players who want to learn and are fully committed to their learning.

We Play Indoors Too:

  • Far Post Soccer Club provides a superb indoor soccer experience from November through April.  The Far Post Soccer Center offers both Futsal and 8v8 Leagues for ages U8 through Adult.  Futsal compliments our training curriculum ~ the smaller playing field and reduced team size allows each player to be more involved and get more touches on the ball.  The reduced bounce ball ensures a true roll and the need for a precise touch.  The absence of boards to deflect passes requires the control and strategy needed on full-size outdoor fields. Futsal sharpens playing and mental skills, allowing continual personal growth and development in preparation for the outdoor season.  While Futsal is the game of choice for Far Post players, all players are highly encouraged to participate in both Futsal AND 8v8 leagues during the winter to experience both games.  Indoor league play for Far Post players is coordinated by the Team Manager or Coordinator.

Outdoor Season:

  • Starting in late April or early May, each team has two outdoor training sessions per week. Some older teams train three times per week. Far Post utilizes training fields through arrangements with local town recreation departments.

  • Most teams play in the Vermont Soccer League (VSL) Division 1, which is approximately a seven game schedule compressed into the first three weekends and one week night in May. Some teams also participate in the New England Regional League, which is approximately a four to six game schedule with some matches within New England.

  • Far Post Soccer Club also participates in three out-of-state tournaments. Far Post teams typically travel as a club and attend tournaments over Memorial Day weekend in May, Father's Day weekend in June, and the last weekend in June.

  • Outdoor season ends late June - early July.

Dual Roster Policy:

  • Far Post player are allowed to play on both their Far Post team and on their town team, but Far Post must be their top priority. We compete at premier¯ level tournaments, in the State Cup tournament, and adhere to all state, regional, and national guidelines, youth soccer affiliations, and association guidelines. Playing for another team may cause a State Cup match forfeit for the travel team.

Location:

  • Indoor training and soccer leagues ~ The Far Post Soccer Center at the Champlain Valley Exposition, 105 Pearl Street, Essex Junction.
  • Outdoor training ~ generally held at fields in South Burlington and Williston
