 Tryouts 2008 FAQ's

  1. Where?  All tryouts will take place at Dorset Park (Field 3) in South Burlington.

  2. Is there a fee?  There is no registration fee to tryout.  All are welcome!

  3. When should players arrive?  Please plan to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to scheduled time for your age group to register and warm-up. See detailed schedule above!

  4. How do we register?  A simple registration form will be available for completion at tryouts check-in.  All Far Post players from this past season will automatically be pre-registered.

  5. Does a parent need to attend?  YES, the first day!  Parents of new players and returning Far Post players are requested to check in with their son or daughter on the first day and sign the registration form.  We need parental permission for players to participate.

  6. Do players need to attend both sessions?  It’s recommended that players attend both sessions if possible to maximize their tryout experience.  If a player can only attend one tryout, evaluators will need to make their decision based on the one tryout.

  7. What should we do if a player can’t attend both sessions?  Please inform our personnel at check-in so it can be recorded on the player's registration form.  You can also send us an email at todd@farpostsoccerclub.com -- if emailing, please be sure to include your child's name and the age group for which he/she is trying out.

  8. Are there any other opportunities for players to be seen if they can’t attend tryout sessions?  Yes!  Far Post is offering two August camps just before school begins ~

  1. What should we bring?

  • Players should be accompanied by a parent/guardian for check in on the first session.

  • Players should be dressed in soccer attire, ready to play (cleats, shin-guards, etc.).

  • Players should bring their water bottles!

  • Also plan to bring other clothing items appropriate for the weather.

  1. Can I bring a friend?  Feel free to bring someone new along to see what Far Post is all about!

  2. How & when will players be notified of tryout results?  Players will be notified BY E-MAIL (unless otherwise noted on the registration form) within a week or so following the second tryout session.

  3. What happens after players receive their notifications?  Players/families will have about 10 days to respond to Far Post indicating their acceptance.  Acceptance is an online process which includes the review of our Travel Team Parent-Player Manual, establishing a registration account using our 'Blue Sombrero' registration system and payment of the travel team deposit (approximately 50% of the fee.)

  4. For RETURNING FAMILIES ~ do I need to do anything with my Blue Sombrero account?  YES! Please log in right away and make sure everything is up to date ~ particularly your email address.  This is the database used for club electronic mailings.

For further information on Far Post's travel team program feel free to review the following pages on our website.  These pages will updated in the coming weeks with new information ~ so check back!
