Futsal
Begins!
On
October 28, Far Post kicked off the Futsal Indoor Soccer Leagues for the
2005-2006 season. We welcome back the U10 Girls League with 4 teams for
Session I. The High School Boys League has been expanded and restructured
to two divisions. Planned for Session II, beginning the second week of
January, is a Coed U8 league. Watch for further details in future issues
of “Futsal Flash.”
Two Area
Businesses Become “Futsal Fanatics”
New for
the 2005-2006 was the opportunity for businesses to partner with Far Post
through our “Fall
Futsal Fanatic” sponsorship program. We are pleased to
announce that
The RehabGYM and
Physical Therapy Center of Vermont have
come on board as new sponsors for this season. We appreciate the
opportunity to partner with both businesses from our Williston
neighborhood. Click on their company names or their logos below to visit
their websites and learn more about them!

Sponsor: The RehabGYM
Upon
visiting
The RehabGYM website, the first thing
one notices is the tagline: “an innovative approach to physical
rehabilitation.” In addition to the facilities and professional
personnel found in a more traditional physical therapy environment, The
RehabGYM has, just that ~ a gym with space dedicated to athletes where
physical therapists and certified athletic trainers can put sport skills
and moves into exercises. Injured basketball players can practice
lay-ups; baseball players, throwing or hitting; soccer players, striking
or running with the ball ~ all in The RehabGYM facility under the watchful
eyes of healthcare professionals. The RehabGYM treats patients as most
other physical therapy organizations, however patients are also able to
use the facility for free at times they don’t have appointments, and once
a patient is no longer appropriate for formal rehabilitation, the RehabGYM
offers the opportunity for its clientele to join for a monthly membership
so they can continue their rehab under the observation of their
professional staff.
The
RehabGYM promotes life long fitness and its staff trains to avoid future
injury, re-injury or conditions that accompany aging such as
osteoporosis. Clinics, such as the “Speed, Agility and Quickness Camp,”
are offered to athletes to work on conditioning and injury prevention and
hopefully give them a competitive edge on the field. Remember…..
Bodies in Motion…. Stay In Motion.
After
visiting The RehabGYM’s website, stop over for a visit. They are located
next to Starbucks Coffee in Maple Tree Place, Williston.
Team of
the Week: Starksboro U12 Boys
 |
Team
Starksboro started playing Futsal four seasons ago with a U10 team.
The first year saw some ugly scores (20-1) and no wins! They are now
at a point where they are competitive, their skills keep improving,
and their confidence level increases all the time.
Coach Don
McCormick on Futsal: “We started playing Futsal rather than other
forms because we thought it was more like true soccer as opposed to
banging the ball off the boards!”
The
Starksboro team has shown improvement with each session played. They
are a true ‘town’ team so playing against the Far Post ‘club’ level
teams has proven challenging. |
However, they have learned from these matches over the last few years.
Playing the strong schedule in the Winter has made Starksboro one of the
toughest elementary school programs in the Fall. The Starksboro team
has a 30-1-1 record against area schools over the last 2 seasons. Coach
McCormick attributes his team’s success outdoors to playing in Far Post’s
Futsal Indoor Soccer Leagues all Winter.
In
closing, Coach McCormick says, “We have had a wonderful time playing
Futsal and thank the Far Post teams for the challenge and sportsmanship
they display. Keep up the good work!”
If
you haven’t seen a Futsal game, stop in and
visit some time! Take in the fun and see why we’re fanatical about
Futsal at Far Post! |
